Hello! I’m Mel and this is my first post writing for Medium. I have been lurking around in the background reading all your stories for 2 years now and I thought it was high time I told my story and contributed to this wonderful website.
Let me introduce myself. I have been a full-time award-winning blogger, Instagrammer and avid Pinterester (is that even a word?) for 5 years now. It started when we bought a house that needed renovating so I began to read lots of DIY blogs and wanted to document our renovation, so I created my own blog — www.melaniejadedesign.com.
I am extremely passionate about my blog. It has grown into a full-time job, with my following on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and TikTok exceeding half a million followers. Increasingly, I found that I enjoy writing about and helping people with their social media and blogs just as much as I enjoy writing about interior design and this is where the idea behind Be Social With Media began.
Time and time again I get asked how I have made blogging and Instagram my full-time job. Be Social With Media aims to be a one stop social media shop to help you realise your ambitions and dreams, give up the 9 to 5 and carve a career for yourself that you wake up to every morning, raring to go.

I have been meaning to write on this website for over a year now and the only thing that was stopping me was Imposter Syndrome! Why would people want to come and read my take on the blogging and social media world and why would they want me to help them create a successful and profitable blog?
I come from an IT background. For 10 years I worked in IT Support, Web and graphic designing and eventually IT Programme Management and have a Degree in Information Technology Management for Business. When I had my children, I took some time out from full time employment and we started renovating our home.
I started blogging and using social media to help promote my blog and I became slightly obsessed with it. I am absolutely fascinated by the social media world and I love writing my blog, it is my creative outlet which has turned into my full-time job. In 5 years, I have managed to amass over 250,000 followers, my blog regularly gets over 70,000 monthly views with a growing email subscription list and my Pinterest has over 17 million monthly views.
My blog has been nominated for several awards and I won the Best Home Styling Blog Category at the Amara Interior Blog Awards in 2021. I have a deep understanding of how Pinterest, SEO and social media can drive traffic to your blog and I can help take your blog from a little creative outlet to a profitable source of income.
I thoroughly enjoy writing blog posts on social media and blogging over on www.melaniejadedesign.com so I thought it was time to create a dedicated blog to this subject! My Inbox is often full of emails from friends and followers asking how they can make their blog successful, or gain a large following on social media, so this is what Be Social With Media is for and I thought it was time I spread my knowledge on Medium too!
